A short break in the action.

Ruth and I went on vacation to Florida. We went to visit Ruth’s folks and get a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of life.

I had been looking forward to this time away for weeks. We had been here before and we were already anticipating the walks and relaxed pace of her parents home.

There were only a few things we wanted to do and all of those things were designed to be relaxing.

So far this vacation has been everything we had hoped. And the biggest thing I’ve been made aware of is the necessity of taking a break. It gives me time to think, relax, and reflect.

Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for us. We need to take a break. We need to stop. We need to step away from the frenetic pace of our daily lives.

My batteries are getting recharged. My spirit is being restored and revived.

I didn’t know how divided I was or how much I needed this time away.

I’ve found that the Sabbath is not negotiable. Once a week I need to stop and breathe and relax.

It puts things in perspective.

What are your Sabbath practices?

What restores you and gives you strength for all that is coming in the week ahead.

We come back soon and will be right back in it. We will, however, be energized and ready because we took time to step away.
