There are four words I’ve been using to describe that kind of faith: Love, Life, Freedom, and Skin. We are loved unconditionally by God. Jesus has come to give us an abundant life. That love and life set us free from the bondage we’ve grown all to used to living with in our lives. Finally, we are to put skin on all of that and help make it real for the people around us.
So how did I come up with the name Skin Ministries?
John 1.14 states, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” And 1 John 4.12 says, “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
I remember a story about a little boy. He was scared and wanted to crawl into his parents bed. They told him not to be scared because God was in his room. The little boy said, “But mom, I need God with skin on him.”
He wanted something real and tangible. That’s us, really. We are the tangible expression of God in the world. So…Skin Ministries was born.
I met you the other day at my mom’s. new “home”—a place to remember- In Davison. I appreciated your authenticity, and your enthusiasm for life. I am hopeful that your visits with others there will be used to help her during this adjustment period . I have tried to encourage her that God may want her to be His light in this new spot. So far I think she is still not very happy. I am trusting that she will adapt to this new place. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts with you. Judy Austin ccjudy19@aol.com
