I’ve read this story more than once and have loved it every time. Tony Compolo tells a story about what happened when he was looking for a meal early in the morning in Honolulu, Hawaii. Enjoy!
Luke 15.1-2 Now the tax collectors and “sinners” were all gathering around to hear him. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
If we are judged by the company we keep, it’s probably not a bad idea to follow the example of Jesus.
What do you think?
I think this is the best yet Pastor Gerber! They’re not going to walk into our empty, holy roller church clubs, we have to take our unconditional love and acceptance out into the streets where it can flow out of us and cover them. Tony is right food and clothes aren’t gonna do it. Love and acceptance is what Jesus gives us and we have to let overflow.
