The power of love

There is almost always push back when talking about God’s unconditional love. Like it is a license to sin.

“God is righteous, too!” “God is a God of wrath!” or various types of comments. You’ve probably heard other variations.

This type of talk keeps us in line for fear of the consequences for getting out of line. If we knew someone in a relationship like this, I think we’d likely try to talk them out of it.

But God’s love is indeed unconditional…and transformative.

A clip from the movie “As Good as It Gets” Sees the power of a relationship:

What would happen if we loved people as God loves us? Would we get burned? Probably, but not all the time. Would it be impactful on the people whom we love? Definitely.

Maybe asking a different question: Would our Christ like love help people in our lives want to be a better husband/wife, mom/dad, brother/sister, friend? You get the idea.

It is the unconditional love of God which has given me the courage to try, and at times fail, to follow Jesus. It has released me from the fear of God’s wrath and brought me into the warmth of God’s loving, graceful, and hopeful embrace of loving optimism.

God sees us for who we have been created to be. We are asked to do the same for those around us.
